Alexander Nicoll writes... My wife, who has family from Suffolk, and I moved to make our permanent home here in 2011. I have worked in charitable and private sector organisations previously. I believe that good local government is important and plays a vital role in supporting sustainable communities. Prior to moving to Suffolk, I served for 16 years on Westminster City Council. I was Lord Mayor of Westminster for the municipal year 2006 - 2007.
I was elected to the County Council in 2017 and my role is to serve everyone living and working in the Wickham Division. The Division covers the villages of Wickham Market, Rendlesham, Ufford, Melton, Pettistree and Campsea Ashe. I am also the Deputy Cabinet Member for Transport. The role focuses on rail and community transport issues involving decisions taken by the County Council or helping manage our input into the decisions of others, including train operators, Network Rail and bus companies. I currently chair the recently established Eastern Section Group of the East West Railway Consortium.
